Timothy E. Flatley is President and Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Investment Advisors, Ltd. with forty-two years of experience in the financial services industry. Sterling Investment Advisors, Ltd., provides investment advisor services to corporations, high net worth individuals, endowments and qualified plans. Sterling’s client list includes many prominent corporations and entrepreneurs. 

Tim’s responsibilities include investment analysis, executive compensation plans, portfolio risk management and quantitative portfolio reporting. He has completed advanced training in technical analysis and is also a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC).

Tim has served on both public and private company boards. Tim and his wife Kathy, have four children and live in Berwyn, PA. Tim has enjoyed coaching youth lacrosse and serving on his church’s pastoral council. He is also an active golf course rater for Golfweek Magazine and has rated over one hundred U.S. and international courses. He is a member of Waynesborough Country Club.

ean is Executive Vice President and Co-founder of Sterling Investment Advisors, Ltd. Sean has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Sterling Investment Advisors, Ltd., provides investment advising to corporations, high net worth individuals, endowments and qualified plans. Sterling's client list includes many prominent corporations and entrepreneurs.

Sean is responsible for both individual and corporate business acquisition and relationship management. He oversees Sterling’s 401(k), Defined Benefit and corporate retirement plan practices. Sean brings design, provider management, compliance and regulatory solutions to his clients.

Sean is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® with a wealth of experience in providing comprehensive financial guidance to individuals, families and businesses.  He is committed to helping clients achieve their financial goals and secure their financial future.

Sean is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University.He serves as the Chairman of Irish American Business Chamber & Network, Inc. The Irish American Business Chamber & Network, Inc. is a nonpartisan business organization promoting the interests of its members and the development of economic and educational relationships between the United States and, Ireland and Northern Ireland.  Sean currently resides in Drexel Hill, PA with his wife Gina. They have four children and enjoy spending time as a family.

About Dave
 

As the Director of Portfolio Design and Management, Dave is responsible for researching and reviewing all investments held within our clients’ portfolios, including mutual fund managers, separate account managers, and individual securities. He is the head of trading at Sterling and also maintains the portfolio accounting system, whereby we track holdings and performance on all of our clients’ assets.  A licensed financial advisor for over twenty years, David frequently meets with our clientele and is devoted to helping them make sound financial decisions for their future and helping them meet their financial goals, both big and small.

Since starting his career in 1995, Dave has held operational, trading, and client advisory roles for multiple companies including Smith Barney, the American Financial Group, Brandywine Asset Management, and of course, Sterling Investment Advisors where he has remained for over twenty years.  David absolutely loves the relationships he has built over the past two decades within the Sterling Investment Advisor family.  That includes both clients and coworkers and is the key to his sustained longevity within his role at the company and why he plans to be here for many more years to come.  

Dave and his wife, Lisa, first met in college where they both attended Messiah University in Pennsylvania.  For most of their lives together, they’ve resided in Downingtown, PA where they raised their three children, William, Jack and Ashlyn.  Lisa has spent her career serving the non-profit community and is currently the Executive Director at Quest Therapeutic Services in West Chester, PA.  They enjoy traveling, being outdoors and, of course, spending time with their three grown children and their spouses/significant others.

About Matt
 

Matt has been the Director of Operations for Sterling Investment Advisors, Ltd. since 2007 when they acquired Preswick Capital Management, LLC, where he held a similar position. After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University, he began his career at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, where he worked in the public policy department, advocating for the Philadelphia region’s businesses.

His current responsibilities include portfolio accounting, trading, reporting, asset allocation and insurance/annuity analysis for the firm’s investment advisory clients. Matt also utilizes eMoney’s Wealth Management system to create detailed financial plans for clients, while working with the Sterling team to review and implement the strategies formulated during the course of the planning process.  He also has an active role in Sterling’s compliance efforts.

Matt is a licensed life/variable insurance agent and also a commissioned Notary Public. Matt has authored and contributed to dozens of articles, which have been published in several outlets including Worth Magazine and MarketWatch.com.

Bray Hansel

About Bray
 

Bray A. Hansel CFP^®, ChFC^®, is a financial advisor on the tight-knit team at Sterling Investment Advisors, Ltd. Bray studied finance and economics at the University of Pittsburgh’s business school prior to beginning his career at Vanguard’s corporate headquarters in Malvern, PA. He earned certifications as a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Consultant during the highly volatile year 2020. Bray has learned from interest rate movements, the growth of equity indexing, and the evolution of financial products. The mentorship and team-oriented environment cultivated at Sterling has provided Bray with an arsenal of resources and experience. The fulfillment gained through making a positive impact in the lives of his clients motivates Bray to continue to grow and explore better ways of optimizing financial decisions.

Bray is passionate about education and volunteers as a small-business mentor, youth soccer coach, and actively serves his alumni networks. His goal to grow the reach of Sterling’s impact by leading conversations related to education savings, retirement planning, and investment management.

About Gabe

Gabe Fairorth has worked for Sterling Investment Advisors, Ltd. since 2021 as an Operations Analyst. His responsibilities include reporting, onboarding, day-to-day work flow, and research. He also prepares financial plans using eMoney. He enjoys client facing and bolstering the operations team at Sterling.

Gabe received his B.A. in Philosophy from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. He holds a Series 65 license, and is currently pursuing a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Gabe and his wife, Jessica, live in Lafayette Hill. In his free time, he enjoys running, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, trap shooting, and visiting national parks with his wife.

About Cathy

Cathy Whetstone joined the Sterling Investment Advisors, Ltd. team as Chief Compliance Officer and Business Manager in 2020. Her responsibilities include managing compliance efforts for the company, including implementing and maintaining internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Cathy is also responsible for managing the day to day business, including payroll, accounts payable, benefits administration, office administration and working closely with the operations team to assist our clients.  

Cathy grew up in the Dayton, Ohio area, but moved to Pennsylvania over 18 years ago where she is currently living in King of Prussia. She loves spending quality time with her family and friends. In her free time, Cathy also enjoys watching sports, reading, shopping and gardening.
